As the curtain closes on 2009, I bade the old year a silent farewell. I've made it though the year! The old year, for better or worse, is gone for good. So I spent the evening home alone, enjoying some quite moments by myself before bringing the kids home..
My sister and I had planned to make a trip up to PJ on the 1st day of 2010. She had wanted to get some necessary items from Ikea while I was going to deliver my kids to hubby in PJ for the week end.
So came 1st Jan and I see the new year begun with fresh promises! I started the day at 7:00am and me along with kiddos and elder bro reached sister's place at 8:00am. We converged at her place so we could all depart in bro in-law's car.
The day started all right and we were soon on our way about an hour later. 45mins into the journey, our car actually broke down! This is the 1st time we ever had such experience! Wow!! This really is a memorable way to usher the New Year I thot!
Less than 5mins a 'good samaritan' came & offered help.. so I thot. Turns out he's an opportunist who's on the prowl along the highway. Due to our inexperience, needless to say the 'good samaritan' managed to convince bro in-law to accept their offer for help. A tow truck came within less than 5mins (super efficient) and towed our car with every one of us in it! The journey to the work shop was about 10mins or less and that cost bro in-law RM70!
At the workshop, the mechanics wasted no time in dismantling all the engine parts. The mechanics demanded RM500 labor fee for taking out all the parts! If that is not daylight robbery, I dont' know what you'd call that! Their intention was obviously to fleece poor bro in-law. So we called S.O.S.! Good old dad managed to 'persuade' the mechanics to accept RM150 for their labor fee, bro in-law got the insurance co. to tow the car all the way back to M'cca for RM20 and we were on our way to PJ minus bro in-law. Hubby came to fetch us from the workshop and we went back to M'cca later in the evening. Sis managed to get her items and I got mine. My eldest girl was really dissapointed as daddy had wanted to bring her for a swim in Uncle John's pool but the plan had to be abborted.
Nevertheless, I believe we still have our chance to start again, to do it right this time, to have another shot at success...at glory...at just accomplishing what we resolve to. It's time to shed that baggage from the year long gone and celebrate what can be in the 364 untouched days to come. Happy New Year every one!
