It's been awhile since we've been on a short getaway. Hubby planned the trip to Universal Studio, Singapore over the previous weekend (29/8-31/8), taking advantage of the public holiday (53rd Merdeka Celebration).
Sis decided to join us with her older gal, the more the merrier. So, off we went on our journey where we put up 2 nites in Blue Wave Hotel, Johor. We had a suite room at a special rate, thanks to Melvin (hubby's friend).
After settling in to the hotel in the afternoon, we made our way to Singapore Bugis & Orchard shoppings. Sis met up with her ex-colleagues while hubby & I met up with his friends for dinner that night. While hubby caught up with his friends, the kids had a good time with Tyra che che. Sis & I later went around window shopping. We had quite a late night and we (I mean ALL of us including the kiddos)were dead exhausted when we hit the sack!!
On Monday, after breakfast, we made our way to our prime destination, The Universal Studio, Singapore! We reached there almost mid-day and the weather was good, kinda cloudy with light showers of rain to cool off the day.
We had fun snapping some photographs for memory sake, enjoying the rides and experienced Shrek in the 4D movie.
The Universal Studios Singapore at Resorts World Sentosa comprises seven themed zones including Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, Far Far Away and Madagascar.
We started our day with the King Julien’s Beach Party-Merry-Go-Round. Our girls had fun going up & down and round and round with the Madagascar characters i.e. Alex, Marty, Melman & co.
Immediately after the ride, we were showered with drizzles of rain, so we took the opportunity to slow down and had our meal at Marty's Casa Del Wild café.
More photographs after that as we wandered into Shrek's Far Far Away Castle to watch Shrek's adventure in 4D effect. This means we watched the 3D movie with 4D effect i.e. being jolted on our seats, crawlies effect on our feet and got splattered with Donkey's saliva every time he sneezed.
After that we rode the Enchanted Airways junior roller coaster with sis complaining that she's really not into such 'excitement'. It was stomach churning & worth the ride..hahaha. Even Paris, who's the scaredy cat all these while enjoyed the ride.
The kids were then taken on a Magic Potion Spin, which is a miniature ferris wheel for the children located in the Fairy Godmother's Potion Shop while sis got Joeynn a dainty pink umbrella fit for a little princess!
At The Lost World, we took the kiddy ride 'Dino-Soarin' that allows us to to pilot the pteranodons to either soar up into the sky or plunge down into the shadows!
Hubby & I had a real awesome time with the Revenge of the Mummy ride. It's an indoor steel roller coaster with Ancient Egypt as the theme zone, complete with imposing Egyptian statues. We had a long walk through the mazes and labyrinths of the insides of the tomb before we were whisked onto the roller coaster and taken through a tomb to meet head-on against Imhotep. The best part of the ride and what makes it top of the must-go rides is the fact that most of the turns are totally unexpected and the rider is guaranteed to expect a scream-fest not just from the turns but also from the special effects like fire, gusting wind, and an evil robot mummy damning us to hell along with many evil props throughout the ride!! Truly awesome!! Scary yet so exciting at the same time - an all time high!!
Overall it was an enjoyable trip and the kids truly had a fun time.
